About the event
About the Event:
This dynamic celebration of Black Miami’s art, culture, and public intellectualism begins with the exhibition closing of Christopher Mitchell’s Nou Souke Ansanm: Haiti 15 Years After the Quake, a powerful photo display reflecting on Haiti's 2010 earthquake. Then engage in a conversation with Monica Sorelle, Desmond Meade, and Valencia Gunder as they discuss Black Miami’s desire and despair amid the redevelopment of the Magic City. Afterwards, unwind at our Party on the Patio.
About the Organization:
Home to Corner Coffee and Micro Gallery, First Church Miami is the city's historic church with a fresh start. Situated at the corner of Fifth & Biscayne, this United Methodist Church serves as a beacon of liberation, creativity, and public intellectualism—honoring the past while innovating for a more just future. All proceeds from the coffee shop support our services for those navigating homelessness.
